Education Day 1

We had fine weather on Education Day. Several counties attended, and I believe we had 29 school buses. Some home schooled kids attended, and at least one parent took their kids out of school for the day because their school was not sending kids.
The Letcher County ROTC students assisted classes in touring the various stations, and we were very thankful to have them.
Anita Holland was our period school teacher. General Lee greeted the students and gave a lecture. Jim Hanes made lye soap. Ron Hornsby showed several flags. J. D. Napier showed the world's largest anvil. Carl Oborski, a West Point graduate, lectured about West Point Military Academy. His wife, Jo Ann Oborski did a fine job discussing spinning wool and flax, and making fabric on a loom. A bee keeper sold honey.
We missed our ever-popular Abe Lincoln, who was unable to attend because of bad health. We have to thank Debbie Fugate and Gail Combs for taking pictures. This is the first time we had a lot of pictures from Education Day. See page 2 for other stations not mentioned here.
It was a fine day for everyone who attended.
